Create a Landscape Different Perspective Art Lesson
Grade 3rd, 4th, 5th
Create: "Into the Forest"Objective: TLW create a forest from the perspective of being in the forest looking out.
Landscape showing foreground, middle ground, and background.
The students love this lesson. Each student is encouraged to use a variety of media to achieve his/her vision of "Into the Forest."
Create is about choices:
- trees
- medium or medias
- colors
- size of paper
Materials available for choice:
I have found that making the materials available everyday easier if you have a set place for them. I have a "wet" table with paints, brushes, containers, and "nasty" rags. A "dry" table with oil pastels, markers, chalk pastels, color pencils, yarn, and crayons. Under the "dry" table are the cardboard boxes with an assortment of cardboard scrap pieces, poster board scrap pieces and a box of color tissue paper. Another section of the room has the "paper" table. This table has several types and sizes of paper to choose.
- White paper
- Black construction paper
- Color construction paper
- Oil pastels
- Chalk pastels
- Watercolor
- Tempera paints
- Crayons
- Markers
- Color tissue paper
- Coffee filters
K and 1st grade can only choose two colors at a time. They can return the two and exchange them for two more. ********THIS WILL HELP CONTROL YOUR ORGANIZATION!!!!****
2nd and 3rd grade may need more cleanup time. You will find the areas that get clogged up with one medium lesson will not happen with multiple media choices.
